In cooperation with the USAID-funded Jordan Fiscal Reform Project, the General Budget Department held two workshops on March 23 and April 13, 2015, to introduce the budget manual as part of GBD’s continued efforts to reinforce results oriented budgeting in Jordan.

In his opening remarks, the Director General of the Budget Department highlighted the importance of results oriented budgeting as it integrates strategic planning and fiscal planning, and that GBD seeks to reinforce this approach across government by developing a monitoring and evaluation system that is easy to use, accessible for all ministries and public departments, and includes practical tools for measuring and monitoring performance.

His Excellency thanked the USAID-funded Jordan Fiscal Reform Project for organizing the workshop and supporting GBD in developing the performance monitoring and evaluation system.

Attended by budget staff from GBD and other ministries and government departments, the workshop provided an overview of the manual, the manpower budget, and budget preparation phases and formats.

A third workshop is set to be held on April 20, 2015 to introduce the budget manual to more ministries and government departments.
