The General Budget Department issued the "Citizen's Guide to the Budget for the Fiscal Year 2015 to offer a glimpse at the main features and contents of the general budget to the public.

The Director General of GBD, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hazaimeh, stressed that the fifth edition of Citizen’s Guide to the Budget is in line with GBD’s efforts to enhance communication channels between government and the citizens, reinforce a participatory approach and raise public awareness about the general budget isues in the Kingdom.

Dr. Hazaimeh added that the Citizen’s Guide to the 2015 Budget serves as a step towards enhancing transparency according to international standards, especially that it includes definitions of key budgeting terms and concepts as well as a table of the key economic indicators on which the budget for 2015 was built. The guide also highlights GBD’s efforts in the area of Child-friendly Budgeting and Gender Responsive Budgeting over the past years.

This guide is a concise and user-friendly publication that aims at increasing public awareness of the general budget and highlighting yearly developments. It also provides information on the most important achievements of the government in 2014, prominent economic and financial developments in 2014, as well as the most important features and developments in the 2015 budget. The Citizen’s Guide to the Budget also offers information about government spending and borrowing and the citizens’ role in preserving public property and executing the budget.
